Gullyview Wines
Our next Winemaker Spotlight is coming this Saturday, 8th of August, to the Adelaide Hills Wine Bar. Between the hours of 1 and 4pm, we invite you to meet and taste with the winemaker behind Gullyview Wines – Jono Koerner.
Gullyview is a story built on family, place, and a deep respect for the land. In 2023, Jono and his partner Megan founded Gullyview Estate, taking the helm of the family vineyards his parents have nurtured since 1987.
His experience began in the family vineyards, where he would work for pocket money over the school holidays. He admits now that he did so reluctantly at the time, but recognizes those early experiences as being seminal in shaping who he has become today. Going on to work vintages at Peter Lehmann in Barossa Valley, and Taylors of Clare. Jono’s passion for wine truly took hold during an overseas vintage in Corsica, where he experienced wines that truly reflected their unique landscapes and cultures. This experience sparked a fascination with the connection between place, people, and wine.
In 2014 Jono co-founded Koerner Wine with his brother, dedicating a decade to developing the brand to the highly-regarded status it enjoys today. After ten years, the brothers chose to pursue individual paths, allowing Jono to focus on the next evolution of his winemaking journey through Gullyview Estate.
Located in Leasingham, in the southern Clare Valley, Gullyview sits almond some of the region’s most prized vineyard country. The vines are planted in classic Clare Terra Rossa soils – red clay over limestone – at ranging elevations from 350 to 450 metres. Their focus is on two varieties that define the Clare Valley – Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon. The approach is simple: let the vineyard and variety speak for themself.
We will have three beautiful wines from Gullyview Estate on pour this Saturday, their Lot Two Three Riesling; Fruitful Grenache; and Countryside Cab Sauv. Jono will be with us to discuss all things grapes, soils, sites, and the wines that represent them.
The tasting will run from 1-4pm, the $15 tasting fee provides three generous pours of Gullyview Wines straight from Jono himself. Book online, or walk-in!
